Why did you decide to start your business?
I started Fearless Fresh because I saved my own life by re-learning how to cook, and I have a hard time watching the people I care about eat poorly and then suffer for it, health-wise. I want to help them live longer, happier lives, and I believe that starts with eating well and generally taking care of yourself.
The purpose of Fearless Fresh is to help quell cooking fear and overwhelm, making food a positive part of life. I 100% believe that people who love what they eat live happier lives, and I want to make sure as many people as possible get to experience that sense of satisfaction in the kitchen – and beyond.
What is a typical day in your life?
My days are all very different, since I play it by ear – I try to do what feels right, and that changes every day. Some days I spend hours tinkering in the kitchen, other days I stay out of the kitchen and spend the bulk of my time writing and dreaming. There’s always a fair degree of “busy work” like social media and other online noodling, but I’m working hard to spend more of my life creating and far, far less of it on the internet.
What is the biggest hurdle you’ve faced so far?
Honestly, my biggest obstacle is myself. I tend to get in my own way a lot, and my health can be a factor as well. I feel like I’m more than capable of taking on almost any hurdle, but the hardest are always internal. (Duh, right? 😉 Paralysis by analysis and gathering knowledge without acting on it are very real problems in my world. Like everyone else, I’m a work in progress!
Any awesome projects in the works?
Yes! I’m working on a big e-course that will turn home cooks into total ninjas in the kitchen. It’s going to cover a lot of areas that others don’t, and I’m planning on it being a game changer for my dream readers. So exciting!
What do you like to do when you’re not working on your design work?
That depends. These days, I spend a lot of my free time “working” because I love what I do so much. I enjoy cooking and developing recipes, and that’s how I spend most of my time. Whenever I’m not doing that, I like to walk, read, travel, watch movies, practice photography, and go hiking. I’m trying to spend more time outdoors, so I foresee a lot more camping and picnics in my future.
And most importantly, what’s your favorite color?
Deep, deep blue-green
